Compute Nodes
The infrastructure consists of a total of three types of computing system nodes, based on AMD x86 architecture, interconnected into a single NVIDIA Infiniband HDR 100 Gbps network offering multiple options and processing architectures. More specifically, the infrastructure consists of:
• Thin Nodes island consisting of 48 Dell PowerEdge R6525 servers. Each server offers 2 AMD EPYC 7763 processors and 512 GB of central memory.
• Fat Nodes island consisting of 16 Dell PowerEdge R6525 servers. Each server offers 2 AMD EPYC 7763 processors and 1 TB of central memory.
• GPU accelerator nodes comprised of 3 Dell PowerEdge XE8545 servers. Each server contains 2 AMD EPYC 7763 processors, 512 GB of memory and 4 NVIDIA Ampere A100 cards.
To optimize system utilization, one of the three GPU nodes, which is equipped with four NVIDIA A100 GPUs, has been configured in MIG (Multi-Instance GPU) mode. This configuration allows each GPU to be divided into smaller, independent instances, providing users with smaller GPU partitions when full GPU memory is not required.
Available GPU configurations:
1g.10gb — up to 10 GB GPU memory, 4 CPU cores, and 15.5 GB system memory
2g.20gb — up to 20 GB GPU memory, 8 CPU cores, and 31 GB system memory
3g.40gb — up to 40 GB GPU memory, 16 CPU cores, and 62 GB system memory
a100 — up to 80 GB GPU memory, 32 CPU cores, and 124 GB system memory

Storage Space
In addition, the system offers 2.5 PB storage space through IBM’s General Parallel File System (GPFS). The infrastructure is complete with an IBM TS4500 library with a maximum storage capacity of about 6 PB.
